Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry 101

I was a bit reluctant to sign up for the Creative Chemistry class. It is boring to follow a class if you don't have the products talked about. But it has been ok so far. Some of the techniques talked about I can not follow, but I really like to learn more about how the inks reacts and behave.

Todays was day 5 of the lessons and todays topic was Distress Stains. I have 2 of those, they are both supposed to be of the color Walnut stain, but they are not.... I bought my first Distress Stain in september. Did not really know how to use it, so it was put away. When I took it out to try it a few months later - it had turned green...... I e-mailed Ranger and they sent me a new one - no questions asked. I call that customer services!

Anyway, that left me with two Distress Stains - one dark brown and one dark green. Not a lot to play with :) So I decided to go buy myself some - that turned out to be some of the most dissapointing shoppingtrip ever! We have 2 crafting shops in my town - and non of them have Distress stains. And they were not interested in taking them in either......
So, I must say "Shame on you Hobbyhimmelen"!

So I just had to do my best, trying out the techniques and when I could not follow - I faked it :) Maybe I actually made up a couple of techniques myself -
"Hey Tim - wanna learn some?" *LOL*

Tim is showing us  3 tags every day, I have not been a good student, so I have only finished this one so far.

Thanks for stopping by!

Looking for my mojo

I am sorry if you feel that you have seen this card before.... It is quite similar to the card I made just a few days ago. The same stamp and the same sketch... but I am still looking for my mojo, so I just have to go with what works.
I hope you will forgive me :)
Actually, when I put the two cards next to each other, they do not look a like at all - so I do give myself a little encouraging clap on the back and tell myself  "Well done!"

The background was made using LOC brick wall stamp, a french script stamp and a postmarkstamp. They where all embossed in black. Then I rubbed over part of the paper with Walnut stain Distress stain, and then sprayed over with homemade Aged Mahogany glimmermist. The dresstand is from Tim Holtz and was layered 3 times. I tried to take a photo showing the layers, but my cat loves feathers, so I just had to save the card from her, sorry about that :)
I don't know where the wings are from, but they are covered with Cinamon stickles for some extra sparkle.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

I have not made a card for months..... maybe not since november.. I am not sure. My mojo has been elusive... I acutally learned today that mojo has a link to Voodoo.. it is some kind of magical charm. I hope that mine has not turned on me *LOL*

Anyway, I decided to fight my mojo and play with the Midnight Madness sketch challenge. It has been a while since I have played with my friends over there.

I would normally never choose green, but when my friend Pricsilla says jump... well then I am jumping *LOL*
Did not turn out to bad as soon as I got it balansed out with some brown :)

I won this Tim Holtz stampset from attending his 12 tags of 2012. Thank you Tim and thank you Mario!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Butterfly necklace

I am so excited to win in the random draft over at

The technique that Tim Holtz is using for the March tag is pretty cool I think, but I was not in the mood for making either a card or a tag (well actually I did make a tag first, but it was ugly), so I ended up making a necklace.

My butterflies are stamps from Layers of Colors. Stamped onto grungeboard and cut out by hand. I used silver embossingpowder in between the papertiles and used some Cinamon stickles around the egdes.
