Friday Fences # 18

This is my first time playing with Friday Fences.
I saw this fence while visiting the Lighthouse at Lista this sunday. I love the homemade decoration. It is just some branches that they have twisted and made art out of.
If you want to see more fantastic fences - pop over to Jan's blog.

It was a very, very cool day at Lista, almost froze my nails off, but it is a beautiful place!

Challenge yourself!

A new year will often also mean new challenges, and I started by challenging myself with the most difficult thing I know when it comes to crafting - a one layer card...
I don't think I have ever been able to make one before. So this is a first for me.

I stamped the Calas twice and made a mask of one of them. With the mask in place I stamped the french script stamp over it, then I stamped the sentiment at the bottom. Sponged the edges with Distress ink (vintage photo) and added three small hearts and five beads and Voila! I had made a one layer card..... I still can't belive it :)

What don't we do for those fury friends......

It is that time of year again... time to go to the vet's office for vaccination and dental care.... I hate it, and my cats hate it even more. Two of them are terrifyed of the cage... so the fun begins a long time before we even can see the vet's office.... *sigh*

Anyway, this year I am going to be prepared! Today I found the cages, washed them and set them on the livigroom floor. Here they are going to stay for a while. I don't think we will go to the vet for another month or so. So I am going to spray the cages with Feliway and throw catnips in there everyday, so maybe they will get used to the cages... you think???? *sigh* Do I belive it? No, but it is worth a try though...

One thing I have missed when it comes to cats and cages is namesigns, so that the vet will know wich cat is in wich cage, so that is what I made today. I sure wish my cats would care also, it would be nice if they saw the signs and went "hey, this looks cozy - I must try", but then agian, no....

Anyway, here is the signs I made. They turned out to look kind of like an old Saloon sign, don't you think. Little bit country and western there... I have some real outlaw cats *LOL* I hope they don't draw their guns and starts duelling in there.....

I have just used plain cardboard. Glued on a piece of TH kraft paper, colored it with distress ink.

The letters are cut out using TH carnivale alphabet die. This is glued onto a piece of paper that has been stamped with LOC vintage postcard.

Then I did cover it all with clear embossing powder, both front, back and sides, hopefully this will make it a little sustainable to water - it always rains when we go to the vet :)

And here is what they look like on the cage :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy new year!

Happy new year to all of you! I had a quite celebration, just the family and the three scared cats :)

The day before new years eve we went on a little trip to a lighthouse about an hour and half away from were I live. It was a great day, and my stepson took a great photo of me and Marcus, and I was inspired to make a LO out of it. I have not made a lot of LO's, usually just makes cards so this took a lot of thinking an planning. So I went online for inspiration, fist I was looking for a good sketch, but did not really find one, but ok, I dicided to live without, and then I found Finnabair's gallery and got heaps of inspiration! Wow that lady is a very skilled scrapper!

So I jumped into it and loved it, but halfway through there is something wrong, I am not really sure what is was, but the layout just did not fit the photo anymore.... so what to do then, well, you change the photo, right?

So this LO, who was supposed to be a romantic LO of me and Marcus kissing in the sunset, ended up to be a LO with pictures of my great grandfather..... Don't ask! *LOL*

The good thing about this change is that I could use a sketch I liked. I have used Skissedillas sketch #144.
I am also entring this into Simon Says Stamp and show - something old, something new.

 I do love his moustache!

I thought it was cool to add the piece of my family tree that leads up to my great grandfather.

There is a lot of old stuff on this LO, but there are something new also. The Brick wall stamp from LOC, the letters are cut out using my new TH die Carnivale alphabeth die. I have also used some TH kraft paper, all of this stuff was lying under the three waiting for me.

My great grandfather was swedish, that is why this LO is called "svensken", that is the name I have heard my mother call him.

I hope you have a great start to the new year! Thanks for stopping by!
