Wearable art

A while back I made myself a necklace that I have come to love very much. The big heart is actually a clock - cool huh?

For this necklace I have used a metal heart clock from Panduro,
Tim Holtz Idea-ology FACETS Dangles, Tim Holtz Idea-ology PHILOSOPHY TAGS Hardware Metal Charm , Tim Holtz Idea-ology SPROCKET GEARS Watch Parts Hardware and Tim Holtz Idea-ology WORD STICKS Metal Charm Hardware.

But I have missed some earrings to go with them. I have been thinking hard about this, wondering how to do it and finally I got the answer. I am really pleased with this.

Pin cushion mannequinn vol #3

So I have made a bride, and I have made a soft and romantic vintage. I have one candelstick holder left, my third Pin Cushion mannequinn just had to be a steampunk one :)

This was a lot of work, it was not easy to make this corset. The leather I used was not ment for clothing and was very unforgiving to work with, but I got there. It took me a couple of days, but I got there, and I am superhappy with the result.

They will all get a permanent home on the dresser in my entrance. Here is a photo of all the girls togheter:

Pin Cushion mannequinn vol #2

I tried to make my first dress mannequinn into a vintage one, it failed, so of course I had to give it another try. Here is the result:

I am pretty happy with the result!

I did some stamping on my linnen before I sew it togheter. This vintage postage stamp says Paris, France, so I am entering this into the Simon Says Stamp and Show Paris, London or New York challenge :)

But as I told you, I have three candel stick holders, so I had to  make a third dress mannequinn..... check my next post for the coolest of them all :)

Pin cushion mannequinn

A couple of days ago I found this tutorial on Pinterest. I think it was my friend Carol who had pinned it there. Must say that I love Pinterest! The amount of inspiration to be found there are amazing!
Anyway, I am not one to take out my sewingmachine very easy. It is from the 60's and has become a grumpy old lady. She is just not very cooperative, so for the most times she is stuffed away, dusting down. But this project looked so fun I just had to try negotiate with her :)

This was my first try at this. My sewing skills are at best very limited, so the fact that I was able to pull this off says something about how easy this is. I do wish that I had something better to stuff the mannequinn with, I did not get the curves I would like to, but ok, first try. I am not sure why she turned out to be a bride... I was going for vintage.... but ok, that only means that I will have to make another one right?

I placed her on a candelstick holder. I love the shape of this one, it was one that my husband has from before we met. Lucky for me he did not have a close relationship to is so I was allowed to alter it. It is a set of three and I never liked them as candestick holders, they become way to thin and high, but for this purpose - perfect!

12 tags of 2012 - february

Tim Holtz has taken his 12 tags of Christmas to another level and has started a 12 tags of 2012 challenge. One tag every month... I am going to miss the 12 tags of christmas big time, but ok, I am not going to be conservative and boring, so I am going to hang on to the tag-thing as best I can. Happy Mothers day!

We celebrated Mothers day here in Norway sunday the 12th. I was not able to spend the day with my mother, but I did send her a card. I hope she had a great day!
I do love her very, very much!

I have used some printouts probably from the Graphics Fairy. The Flower stamp is from Penny Black. I don't remember where my heart stamp is from but I think maybe Stampington.

Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by!

Art Journal

My observant readers have probably noticed a
lack of postings here on my blog lately.
It is all an aftereffect of my total lack of mojo.

My mojo dissapared in december sometime
and has not come back yet.
In January I watched the Creative Jump Start Summit over at Nathalies blog. It did not do wonders for my mojo, but I decided to try out one of the tips given there - to keep an art journal.

This has been a very difficult task for me 'cause this is a medium very unfamiliar to me. The whole work process is alien to me and I am watching a lot of videos trying to get ideas.
Most of the time I watch Inspiration Wednsday.
This blog really is great for inspiration!

Anyway, I have made some really bad Art Journal pages - I am not going to show you those :) but today I made one that I actually was pretty satisfied with. I think I am about to start liking this Art Journaling thing. I like that it is not supposed to become something. It is not supposed to be given away to anyone and it does not matter if you make mistakes.
No sketch, no demands, no rules.
I can use whatever I have, and also use stuff that I would never in a million years think of using on a card - like this big heart and the wings... they are to big for cards.

Anyway, here are my Art Journal page:

Yeah, I know.... it is kind of pink.....
Maybe I am seriously ill?

Thank you so much for stopping by today. I hope to soon be back in "business" again :)
Have a great day!
